About 10 years ago, a very famous British executive posted this video that I find very relevant today after a pandemic, a revolution in technology and a mass workforce quite-quitting.
Obviously, it can be difficult to take the advice and scenery by the book as probably living in an island as Necker is not quite possible for everyone. However, finding balance starts by wanting it, followed by looking and then grabbing what life throws at you.
If you dismiss the glamour of the story of how he bought the island, the reasons as to why he did it and the price he paid back then, there is an interesting evolution in his journey.
“To embrace the balance of work and play is critical”
[Richard Branson]
On a personal note, I believe this balance is really essential, fundamental and taking, Richard‘s words, “critical” for the long term. He mentions his age at the time as 63, (74 now in 2024) and he claims his right to take care of himself by finding time for him.
He touches on topics that are relevant back then like sports, time to think, relax. I feel this resonates extremely with todays world and the need for things such as mindfulness meditation, relaxing, daily exercise, positive self talk, empathy with ourselves, compassion with others and kindness as the first response.
Thanks Richard for sharing that vision and journey ever since and before with the world.
